Avery County After School Program
WAMY and the Williams YMCA of Avery County have partnered to provide After School in each of the Avery County Schools elementary schools in the 2020/2021 school year. After school will be offered from each school’s dismissal time until 6pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday starting September 8th. At this time, we will not be providing Afterschool in the middle schools. After School applications will be available at each Elementary School and at the YMCA front desk starting Thursday, 8/20. They will also be available to print online at www.ymcaavery.com and www.wamycommunityaction.org. ALL applications should be returned to the YMCA for processing. Due to CoVID restrictions, there will be limited enrollment at each site so that we can ensure social distancing and follow all guidelines in place to keep all participants safe. Applications will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis. All applicants will be notified by Friday 8/28 about enrollment. Filling out an application does not guarantee a spot - we will fill all spots available at each site and then start a waiting list for each site. For After School questions please contact Katie Croland.
The Williams YMCA will also be offering Out of School care for grades K-5 on Wednesdays from 7:30am-5:30pm on the YMCA campus starting September 2nd. Out of School care will be a structured day with time built in for students to complete and get assistance with their school work, physical activity and enrichment activities. Due to CoVID restrictions, there will be limited enrollment so that we can ensure social distancing and follow all guidelines in place to keep all participants safe. Registration for Wednesday Out of School care program will be available to YMCA members starting Wednesday, 8/19 and to the community Thursday, 8/20 at the YMCA front desk. This will be a separate registration from After School. Registrations will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis. We will start a waiting list once the program is full. For the Out of School program questions, please contact Katie Croland
