AFTER SCHOOL COUNSELOR
Monday – Friday 1:30-6:00pm
The Williams YMCA of Avery County is proud to offer After School for all 5 elementary schools in the 2021-2022 school year! After school will be held on site at each school. We are looking for strong, creative, and enthusiastic individuals that would like to make a difference in the lives of the children in our community. After School Counselors will be responsible for the daily supervision of children enrolled in the after school program. The counselors are responsible for assisting in the planning, development, and implementation of all components and program activities in the after school program, under the supervision of their Site Coordinator and Program Director. The Counselor guides the academic and social development of children by providing a safe, enriching, and healthy learning environment. After school counselors use a variety of resources to reinforce and introduce skills through the execution of a variety of activities.
A typical day in After School consists of: helping the children with their homework, playing gym games with them, creating an art project, assisting in serving the children dinner, and leading a game of kickball. After school is an amazing place for children to continue learning and growing academically and socially after school lets out, and we would love for you to be a part of that process!
After school starts on August 16th and hours vary school by school, but typical hours are from 1:30 – 6:00.
