The YMCA offers a variety of programs for all ages of youth.
We believe that all kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve regardless of socioeconomic status or ability. That’s why, through the YMCA of Avery County local children and teens cultivate the values, skills and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health and educational achievement. The YMCA offers a variety of developmental programs for all ages of youth. Youth development is a primary focus area of the Mission of the YMCA of Avery County.

Remote Learning Camp
Remote Learning Camp is offered to students Pre-K through fifth grade. Camp is held on days that Avery County Schools cancels in-person instruction and switches to remote learning, due to COVID-19 related reasons. Staff facilitate all aspects of remote learning for children, including help with homework and assistance on Zoom meetings. Children participate in character building, arts and crafts, physical activity, games, and swimming!
Camp will not be held if school is cancelled for both students and staff.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we have limited enrollment to ensure the safety of your student(s) so that we can maintain social distancing and all current State and Local guidelines.

Avery County After School Program
WAMY and the Williams YMCA of Avery County have partnered to provide After School in each of the Avery County Elementary Schools for the 2020/2021 school year. After school will be offered on days when Avery County is providing in-person instruction. At this time, we will not be providing Afterschool in the Middle Schools. After School provides homework help, gross motor activities, as well as enrichment reading and team building activities.
