The Y offer a wide variety of Group Fitness classes to meet your healthy living needs. A description of class offering and current process for attending appears below. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, we are limited to offering outdoor classes at this time. You can see the schedule of classes HERE.
Group Exercise updates:
Starting October 5th ALL Group exercise classes except SPIN will move to the Blackburn Athletic Facility will move to the Blackburn Athletic Facility in Gym B. Members will be able to check in and get their temps taken at this location (much more convenient!) as the building will be staffed. Gym A will be reserved for Pickle ball and Open gym. SPIN classes will take place in the Group Exercise room in the Main YMCA Facility.
A couple of important notes about this change:
Since we are moving indoors masks will be required at all times that class is not in session. The mask mandate states that masks must be worn unless vigorously exercising. Instructors will be responsible for letting the class know when they can remove their masks when class starts and everyone is socially distanced and then they will need to put them back on as soon as class is finished. With the recent permission for the return of indoor exercise in NC we want to be vigilant in keeping the highest standards of safety at the Y.
For any classes with equipment (Bodypump, Active, STB, etc.) – some old yoga mats will be put down for participants set to up their benches ON TOP of the yoga mat. The floor at Blackburn is soft and easily dented or even torn. The benches, chairs or dropped weights could damage the floors so please set weights down gently and use the yoga mat as a protective barrier.
You are encouraged to bring your own mats, chairs and dumbbells if you have them.
A sanitization station will be set up in the gym, please wipe down any equipment you use.
