PROVIDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL

Join us in supporting our community

At the YMCA your gift does more than pay the bills. When you donate to the Williams YMCA of Avery County you are providing opportunities to your friends, family, and neighbors to make new friends, to improve their health, to learn a new skill, and to support all of the programs and services that provide aid for our community! As a mission-driven organization, we exist to promote a healthy mind, body, and spirit for all! That means that no one is turned away due to financial needs. Through our year-round fundraising efforts and the Y Access program we provide financial assistance so everyone can join the fun. Your gift helps us give back to the community!

Capital Campaigns

  • Mitchell County YMCA Building  – Help us with the renovation of the Pine Bridge building in Downtown Spruce Pine to bring the YMCA back to Mitchell County. This building will include a wellness and aquatics center, two group exercise rooms, and a drop-in-childcare area.
  • Arthur Family Youth Center Building – To provide more opportunities for our youth beyond 5th grade, the YMCA is constructing a new building next to the playground in Avery County. We look forward to hosting Avery Middle and High School programs throughout the school year and K-5 Summer camps in this new building.
  • Avery County Aquatics Center Updates – After 18 years, the Aquatics Center in Avery County is due for a few upgrades. In 2025, the YMCA will be redoing the pool floor, pool deck, and looking at other upgrades that will help improve the health and safety of our staff, members, and guests.

THE Y
MORE THAN A GYM AND SWIM

The Y is where people come together to build healthier lives and a stronger community, made possible by you.

Annual Giving

Donating to our Annual Giving Campaign provides direct support for programs and services such as Delivering Meals to Seniors, Providing Free Swim Lessons to our Children, and subsidizing Memberships for those who otherwise could not afford to come to the Y.

Volunteer

Giving your time to help YMCA staff deliver upon its mission means you’ll do more than file papers and make coffee. You’ll become a role model for our youth, a friend to homebound older adults, and an inspirational light in our community!

Hurricane Helene

After the devastation of Hurricane Helene the Williams YMCA of Avery County launched into action collecting emergency and essential supplies, supporting our fellow non-profits and providing services to our community.
